How can acupucnture, medical massage therapy, and chiropractic care help after an accident?
Being in an auto accident is hard enough on us emotionally, but our bodies often experiences trauma and injury that conventional treatments alone may not fully address. Alternative therapies like acupuncture, chiropractic care, and massage offer holistic approaches to healing that target both physical and emotional aspects of recovery.
Acupuncture’s regulation of the nervous system is also a helpful support after an accident. By stimulating specific points on the body, it prompts the release of endorphins and neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. This process helps alleviate pain, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. Additionally, acupuncture influences the autonomic nervous system, balancing sympathetic and parasympathetic activity. Through its intricate effects on neurochemistry and neural pathways, acupuncture offers a natural approach to enhancing overall well-being and restoring harmony to the body.
Chiropractic care focuses on realigning the spine and musculoskeletal system, which can be disrupted by the impact of a collision. Through adjustments and spinal manipulations, chiropractors relieve pressure on nerves, reduce pain, and restore proper function to the body. By addressing spinal misalignments and promoting optimal musculoskeletal health, chiropractic care enhances mobility and accelerates recovery after an accident.
Chiropractic care’s impact on the nervous system is also pivotal. Spinal adjustments facilitate optimal nerve function. By restoring proper spinal alignment, chiropractic care enhances communication between the brain and body. This regulation of the nervous system can alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall well-being. Through its focus on spinal health and nervous system integrity, chiropractic care offers a holistic approach to promoting health and vitality.
Although typically not covered unless you have an attorney, massage therapy is another valuable modality for post-accident healing. It targets muscle tension, reduces inflammation, and improves circulation, addressing common issues like stiffness and soreness. Physical trauma like that experienced in an auto accident tends to aggravate old injuries. Medical massage addresses new muscular injuries and prevents them from becoming another layer on top of old injuries that you have to manage 10 or 20 years down the road. And, yes, massage is touch, which on its own leads to the release of endorphins allowing our bodies to integrate the deeper work the therapist is providing.
Together, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and massage therapy form a comprehensive approach to post-accident healing. They address physical injuries and emotional stress, helping you navigate the challenges of recovery with greater comfort and resilience. By promoting pain relief, mobility restoration, and emotional well-being, these alternative therapies empower accident victims to regain control of their health and reclaim their lives after a traumatic event.

Appropriate, quality healthcare for injured workers includes Medical Massage therapy. If you have been injured on the job and have any aches, pains, or stains, manual therapy should be part of your healthcare. If you do get injured at work, notify your employer and have them write an injury report. You will also need a prescription from your doctor or PCP for manual therapy. Contact the claims adjuster to inform them about your injury and the doctor’s prescription for manual therapy.
To get approved, please contact our office at (505) 557 6140 and leave a voicemail with all relevent information. Usually, you will be authorized for a certain number of appointments. If necessary, the doctor will write a prescription for more visits which will also need to be pre-approved.
*If you don’t have insurance, we accept payment by cash or credit card.
Very few policies allow for massage, and when they do, the reimbursement (what your massage therapist gets paid) is almost always so far below the self-pay rate for the same service that it isn’t financially possible for the therapist to accept your insurance for massage services. If you believe you have a massage benefit, please call us, and we can discuss.
