Chiropractic

Dr David Jones, DC

Dr. David Jones D.C. was first introduced to chiropractic care as a child because his family doc was the community chiropractor, so growing up, he learned much of what health is through holistic teachings.  Dr. Jones D.C. relied on his chiropractor more than ever when he was nine; he had sustained a severe injury from a horseback riding accident.  After regular chiropractic care, he felt firsthand the incredible results chiropractic offers.  He then knew he wanted to pursue a career in promoting health and restoration to the body.  Soon after graduating high school Dr. Jones knew his passion and pursued his undergraduate studies in Davenport, Iowa. He then transferred to complete his studies at the San Francisco Bay Area’s prestigious Life West Chiropractic College.

While attending chiropractic college, beyond the regular studies, Dr. Jones D.C. participated in several outreach programs, including a selective mission trip to El Salvador, where he provided chiropractic care to hundreds of people, from the very young to the very old.  While in school, he pursued specialized training in Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Trauma (CCSTTM). Dr. Jones is one of few chiropractors with CCST certification in Santa Fe who know the traumas associated with spinal trauma from motor vehicle accidents and the clinical rehabilitation necessary to restore the body.  Also, while in college, Dr. Jones gained further knowledge in corrective rehabilitation by obtaining a Certification in Chiropractic Biophysics (CBPTM), one of the leading postural corrective and rehabilitative techniques.  CBP is one of the most researched and scientific techniques available, with proven techniques to improve posture, alignment, and functional restoration of the body.

Dr. Jason Hackler, DKIM, DAOM, DOM

Dr. Hackler began his studies of Kototama Inochi Medicine in 1994, completing a 4,000-hour apprenticeship training program with Dr. Thomas Duckworth, and became licensed as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM) in 1999. He is a third-generation practitioner, teacher, and lineage holder of Kototama Inochi Medicine, founded by Sensei Masahilo Nakazono.  In 2021, he received a doctorate in Kototama Inochi Medicine for his dedication to the discipline and its lineage from his teacher, Dr Duckworth.

Dr. Hackler has maintained a busy family practice, including pediatric care, for nearly 20 years.  He grew up in Santa Fe and completed his apprenticeship and early years of practice in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.  He then relocated to the Midwest, where he spent years practicing and teaching medicine with his mentor, Dr. Thomas Duckworth, in St. Louis, MO. In Missouri, he served as President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Acupuncture Association and was also appointed by the Governor to be a member of the Acupuncture Advisory Committee for the state.  In addition, for 18 years, Dr. Hackler was the Project Director for the Institute of American Acupuncture and Life Medicine (IAALM), a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization offering health care to the underserved community of the St. Louis region.  Dr. Hackler has also trained students through extensive apprenticeships who have become successfully licensed as Acupuncturists since 2020.

In 2020, Dr. Hackler completed a specialty doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, in Austin, TX.  The doctoral work has furthered Dr. Hackler’s knowledge of bio-medicine and assessments and advanced techniques and practices in Eastern Medicine.  His specialties include working with all types of chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, depression and anxiety, and symptoms and conditions that have arisen due to physical, sexual, and emotional trauma. Dr. Hackler is also bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dr. Hackler is very happy to be back in his home city of Santa Fe with his wife, JennTara, and his son, Isaiah.

Dr. Leslie Hughes, DOM

Dr Hughes a licensed doctor of oriental medicine.  She received her Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM. Dr Hughes feels fortunate to have studied under some of the most gifted doctors of oriental medicine and Western medical doctors in this field, both from China and the United States. With the guidance of these doctors, I began to understand the profound healing benefits of traditional Chinese medicine, nutritional healing and herbal medicine. Chinese medicine has a strong foundation that has stood the test of time. Acupuncture and herbal remedies have been around for thousands of years, and the medicine itself is vast. I look forward to a lifetime of practice and study to become more knowledgeable in helping as many people as possible.

I was born and raised in Southwest Oklahoma. I grew up in a small farming community, and my father is still a rancher back in Oklahoma. I value the things I learned growing up in a safe and easy lifestyle in the community. I moved to New Mexico in my early twenties to attend Highland University in Las Vegas, NM. I received my bachelor’s degree with a double major in History and anthropology. I went on to graduate school at Highlands for Southwest anthropology. Anthropology has been natural in alternative healing, even since I was a child. Realizing this, I decided to attend Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe. I have two beautiful children who are my ultimate treasures.

Vasanta’s interest in traditional medicine began with yoga. Yoga became the first tool in my basket to treat back pain.” Vasanta became a yoga teacher in 1995. Then, she studied massage, including Thai massage in Thailand and Switzerland. Vasanta shared her passion for yoga and Thai massage at her studio, Yogassage, in Tampa, FL.

After graduating from the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico with Dr. Lad in 2002, she went on to study advanced Ayurveda with Dr. Lad and other prominent Ayurvedic physicians in Pune, India, for five months. She had practiced Ayurvedic medicine in Tampa, FL, and had conducted pancha karma (cleansing practices) for many years. For the last 10 years, Dr Lidanova has been studying functional medicine, aka integrative medicine, that treats the root cause using specific blood chemistry tests, supplements, and lifestyle choices to assist her patients further in their healing journey. Vasanta had practiced for a few years in Chapel Hill, NC, before she returned to Santa Fe, NM. She has been practicing in Santa Fe & Espanola since 2014.

Jonathan Frederiksen, Owner

Jonathan Frederiksen, BA, BS, MEd

Jonathan owns Northern New Mexico Health Care and a similar clinic in Santa Fe, Whole Body Wellness.  He has been working in the health and wellness field for over 25 years in various capacities and has been involved in the field of bodywork and holistic care, including massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care for over a decade.

Jonathan has a remarkably well-rounded background when it comes to health and wellness. He began his health-focused work as a License Profession Counselor (LPC) in Texas after receiving his Master of Education from the University of North Texas.  His next adventure in health care was as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).  A licensure that he received after completing his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of New Mexico.  He practiced dental hygiene for 17 years.  He thoroughly enjoyed both of his previous careers and the window into what it means to be human that they afforded him.

He serves as the Energy Device Specialist at Whole Body Wellness and as the primary operator of our LightForce Deep Tissue Laser and Radial Pressure Wave.  He also works as a chiropractic assistant at both of his clinics.

Of course, his duties also encompass all of the administrative work that comes with business ownership, but he is deeply interested in the clinical work he is engaged in at the clinics as he finds it a perfect setting for him to bring his previous years of working in health care together to help patients.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys being outside.  Frequently, he is on his mountain or road bike, or riding a dirt bike.  He also greatly enjoys fly fishing here in New Mexico.  He even ties some of his own flies.

Our Wholistic Alternative Care Approach

At Northern New Mexico Health Care, we provide a truly (w)holistic approach to full-body health. We offer science and evidence-based protocols from massage therapy to chiropractic care to address your individual needs.

Our approach is integrative, making you, our client, a central part of your own health care. We provide state-of-the-art alternative medicare modalities tailored towards your individual symptoms, health issues, and goals.

Together, we develop rehabilitation and health restoration strategies that are safe, effective, and understandable to you. Our therapists regularly recommend corrective exercises, self-massage techniques, and self-care strategies to prolong the positive effects of your treatment and avoid future health issues.

How Can Blending Our Alternative Health Modalities Achieve Your Goals?

Many of our clients visit our office to seek alternatives to pharmaceutical and surgical interventions related to their health challenges. Others are looking for a complementary treatment to their doctor’s recommendations.

At Northern New Mexico Health Center, we know that Western medicine offers remarkable treatments for various injuries and diseases and often works closely with physicians and other health care providers. We also understand that invasive procedures and drug therapies can often be avoided or reduced with the help of alternative modalities.

To create a unique blend of medical approaches, we teamed together to offer medical and sports massage, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and naprapathy. These therapies can be used individually or together, depending on your personal needs and goals.

For example, combining chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture therapy can often create better results than using these methods individually. Massage therapy helps to relax your muscles and allows easier spinal and joint adjustments during your chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments allow longer-lasting muscle relaxation and better body alignment. Relaxation of your muscles can reduce headaches or other pain temporarily. Incorporating acupuncture into the mix can help reduce the underlying inflammation of your chronic pain or symptoms. The combination of these alternative treatment methods helps to reduce pain and address underlying issues at the same time.

Our blended approach allows you to create and maintain your own whole body wellness. Reach out if you have any questions concerning our offerings, and how we can tailor them to your individual health goals. Learn more about our therapies and blended approach.
